Whether the expertise is must for project manager?
It is important to realize that a project manager can successfully manage a project whether or not he has relevant technical knowledge. A nurse can manage a construction project. An engineer can manage a graphic design project. Obviously, technical knowledge is preferred. Project managers must have people-managing and interpersonal skills and general management skills such as negotiation, leadership and mentoring. A key area of expertise for a project manager is understands the project environment. This can involve knowing who the stakeholders are, why the project is being done and what is the strategic plan of the performing organization (the company or division of the company doing the project).
