to collaborate的意思是与他人共事，部门协作或与其他公司合作。在商务场合我们用collaborate表示跨部门或跨公司的协作；而非同一个办公室的员工合作，此种情况我们简化为cooperate。
to collaborate means to work together with other people, other departments or other companies. In business we often use the word collaborate to describe working with people from another company or another department. We don’t use collaborate to describe working with someone in the same office. We simply say cooperate for this.
